The City of Lake Charles will observe the Christmas Holiday on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, and the New Year’s Holiday on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

Changes in trash and garbage pickup are as follows:

Christmas Holiday Schedule:

All garbage and trash routes will follow their normal pickup schedules.

The Wood Waste Facility, the Team Green Recycling Truck and the Nelson Ball Field Recycling Stations will be closed on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. They will resume regular schedules on Thursday, December 26, 2024. 

New Year’s Holiday Schedule:

All garbage and trash routes will follow their normal pickup schedules.

The Wood Waste Facility, the Team Green Recycling Truck and the Nelson Ball Field Recycling Station will be closed on the New Year’s Holiday, Wednesday, January 1, 2025, and will resume regular schedule on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

As a reminder, containers and other items for removal shall be placed before the hour of 7 a.m. on collection day or on the evening proceeding collection day. Containers shall be removed no later than 7 pm on the day of collection.

The owner, occupant, tenant, etc., is responsible for collecting any spillage from the container. 

Live Christmas trees can be placed curbside for collection. All decorations and lights must be removed from the trees prior to placing them curbside. Additionally, for 2025, a Christmas Tree Recycling Drop-off will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the Nelson Road/Alma Lane Recycling Station. Live Christmas trees, free of décor and lights, can be dropped off from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. 

Lake Charles City Hall and all other services of the Department of Public Works will be closed on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, in observance of the Christmas Holiday and will resume regular working hours on Thursday, December 26, 2024. Offices will also be closed on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in observance of the New Year’s Holiday and will resume regular working hours on Thursday, January 2, 2025.
