Capital Project No. 3177 – W. Prien Lake Road Widening from Cove Lane to Ihles Road

When did construction actually start?

The road construction began in August of 2021

Roadway Pavement

West Prien Lake Road

West Prien Lake Road will be reconstructed from Cove Lane south to Ihles Road. This includes a new 4-lane concrete roadway that will be widened to include left turn lanes at the Sale Road intersection. This intersection will be a signalized intersection.

Sale Road

Sale Road has been reconstructed to continue the 3-lane concrete roadway from Rue Chan Ann Lane west to W. Prien Lake Rd.

Henderson Bayou Road

Henderson Bayou Road, from Indian Bay Drive east to West Prien Lake Road, will be reconstructed and widened in order to provide dedicated left and right turn lanes for eastbound traffic entering Prien Lake Rd.

Water & Sewer Improvements

This project also includes upgrades and expansions to the water and sewer systems. These system upgrades are intended to better provide for existing residents as well as prepare for continued growth in this area.

Drainage Improvements

This project includes constructing a new underground drainage system with two new major outfalls into Henderson Bayou. One on the north side of West Prien Lake Rd, west of Ihles Rd, and the other on the north side of Henderson Bayou Road near the bridge. This new system will be an upgrade of the existing to serve the local area more adequately.

Where are we now?

The vast majority of the drainage infrastructure included in the project has been installed. Some smaller drainage projects on the north end of the project and also the east side near Sale/Henderson Bayou Rd remains.
The reconstruction of the intersection of West Prien Lake Road and West Sale Road is complete.
The reconstruction Sale Road is complete.
The paving of West Prien Lake Road, south of Sale Road, is nearing completion. Weather permitting; contractors anticipate opening West Prien Lake Road, south of Sale Road, to 2-way traffic towards the 1^st week of March.

What's next and what changes can be expected?

Once West Prien Lake Road, south of Sale Road, has been opened to 2-way traffic, the portion of West Prien Lake Road, between the roundabout & Sale Road will become open to southbound traffic only. It will remain this way for approximately one (1) year.
Paving will proceed north by completing the west half and transferring traffic to new pavement. Then east half will be paved. The paving operations will proceed north. Click Here to See Exhibit Maps
