CITY OF LAKE CHARLES PUBLIC NOTICE

The City of Lake Charles’ Community Development Division is giving notice that it will conduct a series of a public hearings/neighborhood meetings at the locations listed below with the appropriate dates and times.

Special Emphasis on Public Services- Information on applying for grants.

Interested organizations must be present in order to apply for a public service grant.

The purpose of these public hearings/neighborhood meetings will be to discuss the City’s 2016 Action Plan which is the City’s application Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnership Act (HOME) funds.  

The Action Plan is a requirement of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to receive Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) funding.

The Action Plan identifies the specific programs and activities to be undertaken with the federal funds received annually through the CDBG and HOME grants. The City of Lake Charles anticipates receiving $625,706 in CDBG funds and $233,661 in HOME funds from 2016 federal fiscal year funds. These funds are made available to the City of Lake Charles on an annual basis from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. 

The Plan provides a framework for activities and expenditures for housing, homeless needs, and various community development issues such as public (human) services, public infrastructure and improvements, and economic development.
