At the January 20 meeting of the City of Lake Charles City Council, a resolution by the City Council was approved declaring Lock Park a “Family Friendly Zone” during the 2016 Mardi Gras parade activities.  The resolution requests the Lake Charles Police Department to enforce the provisions of the Code of Ordinances of the City that prohibit the possession, consumption and/or sale of alcoholic beverages in parks within the City and prohibit parking within the Lock Park grounds during the 2016 Mardi Gras parades.

“Southwest Louisiana’s Mardi Gras is a celebrated family event, and it’s important for us to reemphasize our City’s commitment to making the celebration family friendly,” said Mayor Randy Roach. “We want everyone to enjoy the City parks during Mardi Gras, and we will do our part to ensure that Lock Park and the other City parks provide a safe, fun atmosphere for the whole family to enjoy.”
