Impact Lake Charles AmeriCorps Week

Each year, during AmeriCorps Week, the Corporation for National and Community Service recognizes AmeriCorps members and alums for the commitment that they make to service by highlighting the impact AmeriCorps makes across the nation.  This year AmeriCorps Week is March 9 - 17, 2013.

AmeriCorps is a service learning program that gives its members an opportunity to make a positive difference in their lives and the lives of those they serve.  It gives individuals an opportunity to assist with meeting the critical needs in the community.

Impact Lake Charles AmeriCorps, sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service and the City of Lake Charles, focuses primarily on providing academic assistance to students with possibilities in area schools.  Impact Lake Charles also provides much needed assistance with community service projects throughout the Lake Area.

On Saturday, March 16th, Impact Lake Charles AmeriCorps members will be painting the restrooms at the Lake Charles Civic Center as a community service project.  Since the current term of service began on September 1, 2012, Impact Lake Charles AmeriCorps members have completed over 6,800 hours of academic assistance and community service.
