City to Hold Public Meeting for Businesses

Along Mardi Gras Holiday Parade Route

On Wednesday, February 6, at 9 a.m., in the City Council Chambers of City Hall, 326 Pujo St., the City of Lake Charles will conduct a public meeting for all property owners along the Mardi Gras Holiday parade route whose business operations will be affected by the 2013 Mardi Gras Krewe of Krewes' Parade.

The Krewe of Krewes' Parade is scheduled for Tuesday, February 12, at 5 p.m.  The Krewe of Krewes' Parade will begin on West Mill St. at Lakeshore Dr. and continue south on Ryan St. to Sale Rd.

At the public meeting, City officials will advise the public on port-a-can placements, dumpster placements, the police command center, Do's and Don'ts, and parking restrictions downtown.

The City will distribute cardboard trash boxes with plastic liners at the meeting to all property owners along the parade route.  Waste Management, Republic Services and IESI are providing the boxes.

Property owners are asked to collect trash left on their property and place the cardboard boxes in the public right of way along Ryan St.  City trash crews will pick up the boxes beginning at 7 a.m. Wednesday morning, February 13, the day after the Krewe of Krewes' Parade.
