Water Production and Facilities
The Water Production Department is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the six water treatment plants that serve the City of Lake Charles. The GH West Plant is staffed 24 hours a day. From this site, the other water plants are monitored and controlled by our experienced and certified operators. Our maintenance team performs all repairs to equipment, monitors and adjusts chemical feeds and ensures that all equipment is performing adequately.
Each day we deliver approximately 15 million gallons of water to the residents of the city and outlying areas. Seventeen water wells drilled in the 500 ft. and 700 ft sands of the Chicot Aquifer supply water to the treatment plants. Sedimentation, aeration, filtration and disinfection of the source water is performed at the treatment plants. From the treatment plants, water is delivered to the distribution system through approximately 650 miles of water mains. Each day, our employees are working diligently to ensure that the water delivered from our facilities meets all regulatory requirements and your expectations for quality, safety and reliability. For more information, contact Efron Simon, Supervisor at 337-491-1987.
