Slideshow - Clean Campus Contest
The Clean Campus Contest is an event to get area schools and its students involved in helping to keep our city and surrounding areas clean, starting with their school campus. Students and volunteers at each school participate to pick up litter, plant flowers and greenery, and beautify their individual campus. The contest is held in April of each year and all parish schools, public and private, are invited to participate. Each school is judged on a scrapbook chronicling their progress with before/after comparisons of litter on campus, beautification of campus, parent/community involvement, and student involvement. A team of Keep Greater Lake Charles Beautiful-Team Green board members will judge the school sites in three categories: elementary (K-5), middle (6-8 or K-8), and high schools (9-12 or K-12). The winners will be recognized and receive awards at the annual Litter Awareness & Prevention Luncheon held in October of each year. Applications for the Clean Campus Contest are sent out to all school principals during the month of February. If you would like to have your school involved, contact your local school principal and express your interest to participate. After which an application should be submitted to the Keep Greater Lake Charles office. For questions or more information, you can contact our office at (337) 491-1481.
