City Cuts Ribbon on Anita Drive Park
On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, Mayor Nic Hunter was joined by District C Councilman Rodney Geyen and other City officials to cut the ribbon on Anita Drive Park.
The brand-new park, located at the intersection of Anita Drive and Ryder Avenue, features a splash pad, open green space and walking trail, among other amenities such as a gazebo and bike racks.
“Anita Drive Park is an incredible asset for the community as a whole, but particularly for this central-City area,” said Mayor Nic Hunter. “A number of positive developments are underway in this community, and we are proud to have turned this vacant parcel of land into an active space for residents of all ages to enjoy.”
“It has long been a dream of mine to add a park in this area of the City,” said District C Councilman Rodney Geyen. “What a great day for Lake Charles and for District C! I am thrilled to officially cut the ribbon on this project and am looking forward to seeing the residents; both young and young at heart enjoy this new amenity.”
The majority of Anita Drive Park was funded by a Love Louisiana Outdoors Grant through the Louisiana Office of Community Development.
Future plans for the Anita Drive Park area which were included in the LC Rebound bond proposal include adding a Youth Center to house a Boys and Girls Clubs location at this site, which would double as a Community Resilience Hub. In the event of future natural disasters, this Community Resilience Hub could be activated as a space for residents to gather and receive needed assistance before or after a storm.
Anita Drive Park, like other City parks, is open daily from sunrise to sunset.
