Holiday Garbage and Trash Collection Schedule
The City of Lake Charles will observe the Christmas Holiday on Monday, December 25, 2023 and the New Year’s Holiday on Monday, January 1, 2024.
Because of these holiday observances, the following changes will be made to the garbage and trash collection schedule:
Christmas Holiday Schedule:
Garbage and Trash scheduled for pickup on Monday, December 25, 2023, will be rescheduled for pickup on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.
Garbage and Trash scheduled for pick up on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, will be picked up on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
Thursday and Friday routes will remain on regular schedule.
The Wood Waste Facility, the Team Green Recycling Truck and the Nelson Ball Field Recycling Stations will be closed on Monday, December 25, 2023. They will resume regular schedules on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.
New Year’s Holiday Schedule:
Garbage and Trash scheduled for pickup on Monday, January 1, 2024, will be rescheduled for pickup on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
Garbage and Trash scheduled for pickup on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, will be rescheduled for pick up on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
Thursday and Friday routes will remain on regular schedule.
The Wood Waste Facility, the Team Green Recycling Truck and the Nelson Ball Field Recycling Station will be closed on the New Year’s Holiday, Monday, January 1, 2024, and will resume regular schedule on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
As a reminder, containers and other items for removal shall be placed before the hour of 7 a.m. on collection day or on the evening proceeding collection day. Containers shall be removed no later than 7 pm on the day of collection.
The owner, occupant, tenant, etc., is responsible for collecting any spillage from the container.
Live Christmas trees can be placed curbside for collection. All decorations and lights must be removed from the trees prior to placing them curbside. Additionally, for 2024, a Christmas Tree Recycling Drop-off will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Nelson Road/Alma Lane Recycling Station. Live Christmas trees, free of décor and lights, can be dropped off between 9 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.
Lake Charles City Hall and all other services of the Department of Public Works will be closed on Monday, December 25, 2023, in observance of the Christmas Holiday and will resume regular working hours on Tuesday, December 26, 2023. Offices will also be closed on Monday, January 1, 2024, in observance of the New Year’s Holiday and will resume regular working hours on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
